We are truly pleased to announce the return of the amazing John Flynn to our concert series. John was originally brought to my attention by Vern Crawford, who for years ran a venue in Carbondale, Illinois called Cousin Andy’s Coffeehouse. John is a talented songwriter and singer, a remarkable and inspiring individual, and someone I always look forward to seeing when he comes our way. This is John’s fifth return to the cabin and we’re sure seats will fill fast.

Singer-songwriter John Flynn draws from a significant body of work, ranging from his early country offerings to story songs, love songs, songs for kids, funny songs, songs of social justice and meditations on loss, tolerance, faith and hope. The 56 year-old former Nashville staff songwriter and father of four spurned touring when his children were young, but as the kids grew older superlatives began to welcome their dad’s arrival to the national folk stage. In 2005, Arlo Guthrie invited John to join musical legends like Willie Nelson and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott on the historic City of New Orleans Train Tour following Hurricane Katrina. And Kris Kristofferson recited the lyrics to John’s song “Without You with Me” at Stephen Bruton’s funeral. Ramblin’ Jack Elliott himself has called Flynn the undiscovered “John Lennon of the plasma generation”!

As usual, the show starts at 8PM and you are welcome to arrive as early as 7PM for social mixing and grabbing your favorite spot. You can pay by cash or a check when you arrive. All funds go directly to the artist, and this is how they make their living. We’ll put out snacks and beverages, and you’re welcome to bring something to share.

We are thrilled to bring back our fine friend, Eunan McIntyre from Glencolmkille, County Donegal Ireland. When Eunan played for us last year, it was to a sold-out show. His warm personality and light-hearted humor had everyone smiling the entire evening. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Eunan grew up as the second youngest of 16 siblings in a small fishing village in the most remote region of Ireland. The beauty of this hard land and people who make it their home is a rich vein to mine for his songwriting. Eunan still calls Donegal his home and we are fortunate to be able to host him for one of the few concerts he will perform in Indiana before heading back to Ireland.

He’s toured in Canada, the United States and Luxembourg and has also played in Spain with Enjoy Travel. He has toured extensively in Switzerland both as a solo musician and supported by the Swiss band “Tacha”. He is best known for his songwriting skills and his warm personality.

Eunan has won numerous song competitions in Ireland, including the All Ireland Traditional Ballad Song Competition. While he is on stage he can reach into the heart of the audience with his Irish humor, and his own songs.

The show will begin at 8PM, but you are welcome to arrive as early as 7PM. We’ll put out some wine, lemonade, and a couple of snacks, and you are welcome to bring food or beverage for yourself, or to share. Seats will be $15 and all of the funds go directly to the artist. After a long hiatus, we’re ready to start bringing some great music back to the cabin, and this show is going to be awesome!

Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart met in 1992 and have been partners ever since, stunning guitar work of Mark with the quirky lyrics that paint the stories Stacey tells through song. Though both are fine musicians, performers, and songwriters in their own right, there is just something special to the way they play together.

Both come from musical families. Stacey is sister to Steve Earle, and Mark grew up playing guitar in honky tongs for his dad’s band and touring with Freddie Fender, among others. Stacey and Mark have 5 CDs that they’ve made together, and each has a couple of solo CDs in the catalog as well, adding up to 9 CDs in all.

We’ve seen Stacey and Mark perform in New Harmony on several occasions and we’ve always come away with huge smiles on our faces. It’s one of the most entertaining acts you’ll find on the Folk/Americana music menu.  We’re promising Stacey and Mark a full house for this show, so please make plans to join us! It will be a great opportunity to pick up a couple of stocking stuffers, too!

Alan Rhody has followed a long and sometimes very solitary path as a singer-songwriter over the past forty years. From his beginnings in Louisville, Kentucky, to living, working and performing across Canada for the first half of the 1970s, where he found his musical calling. Then, at age 31, married with three children, he and his wife Kathy made a leap of faith, returning to the U.S. and Nashville, Tennessee, where he was immediately hailed as a bright new talent, having his songs being covered by a who’s who of country, folk and bluegrass.

Alan tours year-round, playing festivals and other listening venues and conducts songwriting workshops whenever possible. He is also a published poet and award- winning painter. He’s never been big on categories of music, just great songs! Now a nationally recognized writer/artist with a devoted following, he delivers “Led by Love” his ninth album.

The new recording brings Rhody’s writing, playing and singing full-circle with reflections on his own life and his love of country-tinged folk and blues. He also includes a 19th Century war ballad sung a capella and Richard Shindell’s moving Civil War tale, “Arrowhead.” Sam Bush, Mike Henderson, Guthrie Trapp and Jonell Mosser all make very significant contributions.

On past releases, Alan has recorded with greats and longtime friends, John Prine, John Hartford, Maura O’Connell and Gillian Welch partner, David Rawlings. The diverse list of artists who’ve covered his original compositions includes Del McCoury, Kevin Welch, George Jones, David Mallett, The Oak Ridge Boys, Murray McLauchlan, Michael Murphey,Tanya Tucker, Lorrie Morgan, Kamahl, Suzy Boggus, Bjorn Jens, Toby Keith, The Good Brothers, Anne Kirkpatrick and Ricky Van Shelton.
