Mark Dvorak Concert at the Cabin

We are thrilled to present Mark Dvorak for his first time performing in Evansville! Some of the best shows we have had here at the cabin featured performers who are deeply influenced by the traditions of American music. People like Dana Robinson, Alan Jabbour and Ken Perlman, Orrin Star, and bands like Jubal’s Kin all had that certain sound that comes from studying American roots music. Mark is among these colleagues, as a performer and as an award-winning author on the life and music of Huddy Ledbetter, also known as “Lead Belly”.

Mark is a veteran songwriter, performer, and instrumentalist playing finger style guitar and clawhammer banjo. His concerts are a mix of the familiar and the new, traditional folk and standards from the American songbook. He plays authentic country blues guitar and picks great old-time banjo. Mark is a very engaging performer, and the intimate setting of a house concert is truly the best way to experience this great performer.

Mark Dvorak is a modern day troubadour who has been active on stage and in studios for more than 30 years. He was honored with the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. When Mark is not on the road, he is a faculty member at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. He has been called “a folk singer’s folk singer” with an “encyclopedic knowledge of traditional songs.”

Mark Dvorak is on of the great exponents of American folk music. He approaches it with respect, honor and cares about the people he’s singing to. He is genuine and not a caricature of a ‘folk star.’ – Frank Hamilton, Decatur Georgia

“One of a vanishing breed. Although all of us benefit from the tradition, Dvorak is one of the few who keep it alive”! – Utah Phillips
