Saturday, May 9, 2015 Annie and Rod Capps with Jason Dennie – It’s Our 100th Show!!

This is a really special show, featuring our great friends from Michigan, Annie and Rod Capps with Jason Dennie. Three incredibly talented performers, blending guitar, mandolin and harmonies on the quirky and original songwriting of Annie Capps.

We’re so happy to have them join us for our 100th Concert at the Cabin! If you can’t make to to the show, come celebrate our 100th from noon to 4pm at the Cabin while we welcome all of our friends to enjoy some food, drink and share some music. If you would like a spot on the afternoon stage, please get in touch with tim right away to secure a time slot.

Over the years, Annie and Rod have done it all; from rock to musical theater and while they continue to draw from a wide range of genres and influences, what comes out is a hybrid sound all their own. Genuine and playful; effortless and endearing; this duo has been enchanting audiences in quality music venues, house concerts, coffeehouses and festivals throughout their home state of Michigan and beyond.

Jason Dennie is an accomplished solo instrumental guitarist, sideman, and a phenomenal mandolin player with deep bluegrass roots. He’s comfortable in a broad range of styles, but you can clearly hear the influence of Big Mon when he cuts loose on a Bill Monroe tune. With the addition of fine backup vocals, Jason brings an extra taste of zing to Annie and Rod’s music.

Saturday, April 4, 2015 Small Potatoes

Everybody knows them as “The Spuds”, but don’t confuse them with a starchy, carb-filled side-dish. They’re a buffet of magic, taking you on a journey through the lives of people and places painted in their songs.

Rich Prezioso and Jacquie Manning are the best of the best. They have played the cabin more than any other performers, and every single show has been a sell-out well in advance of the night of the show (that means you need to book fast!). They are incredibly entertaining performers, both are inspiring songwriters who easily draw you into their world of humor and heart. They’ll take you from laughter to tears quicker than the Red Line will get you from Part Street to Downtown Crossing. Oh, wait. I’m not in Boston anymore. Well, trust me, that’s really fast.

Twenty-one years ago, Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso, the Chicago-area duo known as Small Potatoes, decided to hit the road. “In one year, we quit our jobs, bought a house, bought a car, and became full-time folk singers–not exactly the greatest combination, financially speaking, or what most people would call a sound business model. We didn’t throw darts at a map, but we might as well have.”

They might not have had the best plan, but what they did have were great songs and musicianship, and the ability to put on a show. After nineteen years, a million and a half miles and 3500 shows (not to mention five Dodge Caravans…) they are listed as a “favorite act” by many coffeehouses, clubs and house concerts across the U.S. They have made repeat appearances at major folk festivals, including the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Walnut Valley Festival, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival.

The doors will open at 7pm and the performance begins at 8pm. We’ll have some snacks out on the table, our lemonade, and a bit of wine and you’re also welcome to bring something to share. As with all of our shows, you must reserve your seats in advance. Seats will be $15 and all of the funds go directly to the artist. Remember that we only have 25 seats available, so please reserve yours early. We do sell out on most shows. Reserve your seats here.

Saturday, March 7, 2015 Ireland’s Eunan McIntyre Returns!

We are excited to once again see our fine friend, Eunan McIntyre from Glencolmkille, County Donegal Ireland. This is Eunan’s third visit to play for us, and both previous shows were received with wide acclaim, and sold-out houses. Eunan’s warm personality and light-hearted humor is punctuated by stories of growing up in the far northwest corner of Ireland. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Eunan grew up as the second youngest of 16 siblings in a small fishing village in the most remote region of Ireland. The beauty of this hard land and people who make it their home is a rich vein to mine for his songwriting. Eunan still calls Donegal his home and we are fortunate to be able to host him for one of the few concerts he will perform in Indiana before heading back to Ireland.

He’s toured in Canada, the United States and Luxembourg and has also played in Spain with Enjoy Travel. He has toured extensively in Switzerland both as a solo musician and supported by the Swiss band “Tacha”. He is best known for his songwriting skills and his warm personality.

Eunan has won numerous song competitions in Ireland, including the All Ireland Traditional Ballad Song Competition. While he is on stage he can reach into the heart of the audience with his Irish humor, and his own songs.

The show will begin at 8PM, but you are welcome to arrive as early as 7PM. We’ll put out some wine, lemonade, and a couple of snacks, and you are welcome to bring food or beverage for yourself, or to share. Seats will be $15 and all of the funds go directly to the artist. Eunan will have CDs available for sale. Remember that we only have 25 seats available, so please reserve yours early. We do sell out on most shows. Reserve your seats here.

Saturday, February 14, 2015 Valentines Day Show with Troubadours of Divine Bliss

We are so fortunate to have a house concert featuring our dear friends, the Troubadours of Divine Bliss on Saturday, February 14th. As we are closing in on our 100th Concert at the Cabin, this is so appropriate in so many ways. The Troubs performed their first show at the Cabin on February 14th, 2004, 11 years ago, so this is, in some ways, a very special reprise.

When I first encountered the Aim Me and Renee, they had been living in New Orleans, where they honed their blend of harmonies and zany stories on the streets of the French Quarter. Offbeat Magazine honored them as “Best New Folk Band”, which is a huge accomplishment in that southern musical mecca.

Now that they call Indiana home, we get to enjoy this blissful duo at area music festivals and venues throughout the region, and this is their 5th time returning to perform for you at the cabin.

Seats are $15, and you can reserve your seat online by hitting the Reserve Seats tab.

This is a Saturday show, starting at 8PM and you are welcome to arrive as early as 7PM for social mixing and grabbing your favorite spot.

Dressing properly for a Valentine’s concert is important as it helps create a good first impression and shows respect for the occasion. Modest girls dresses purchased online offer benefits such as convenience, wide variety of options, affordable prices, and the ability to compare styles and sizes easily. It’s a practical and efficient way to find appropriate and stylish outfits for the event.

Please bring cash or check and add it to the basket when you arrive. All funds go directly to the artist, and this is how they make their living. We’ll put out snacks and beverages, and you’re welcome to bring something to share, which makes it all the more fun!

Remember, seating is limited to 25 spots, so it’s best to reserve early by hitting the Reserve Seats tab!
